Girls Trip

The past few weekends have been super busy and filled with lots of firsts. One of which was my first night away from M for my Sister's bachelorette party. The following weekend was my first flight without her. Luckily both were super fun, I could (almost) totally relax knowing M was with her Dad who is easily the better parent ;)

How cute is this new shirt? Check out my upcoming Stitch Fix review for details.

I headed to DC early Saturday morning with my girlfriend to celebrate our dear friends 30th birthday. Her husband was so sweet to email us back in April so we had plenty of time to plan our stay. We arrived early and headed for our hotel. I snapped a few pictures of our room - I loved the shower and dark floors (mental note for future home!)

We then went over to Le Diplomate for brunch. I adore this place! The food is phenomenal, the decor is perfection, which all comes together to create the most perfect ambiance.

We then headed back for some relaxation and girl time before heading to the new (to me)  Dry Bar location in Dupont. With great hair and relaxed moods we headed back to the hotel for bubbles and the finishing touches.

The party was at Maple so we popped in earlier for dinner and drinks before heading upstairs to the party. It was such a fun night! There was an awesome  rosé bar, amazing gold flecked jewel treats, cake & apps.

On Sunday I got to visit some old favorites, Bethesda BagelsBaked and Wired, and visit some friends from our time in DC. I also popped into a shop and picked up a gorgeous new bag, but more on that in a separate post!

It was a fabulous 36 hour trip, short & sweet but worth every minute! Happy 30th to my sweet friend! I hope this year brings you so much happiness, puppy snuggles & many more trips together!

Date night, parent style

Last week we had a little "date night," M was with my parents so Oliver and I had the night to do anything we wanted...and we went to IKEA! We had needed a few things and always found an excuse not to go over the weekend, I mean have you ever been on a Saturday? It's torture! So we headed to pick up a few things, explore and have dinner. Full disclosure- Oliver is OBSESSED with the Swedish Meatball dinner.

The soft serve is so yummy! It's funny because it reminds me of soft serve ice cream you get in England. It just tastes different than most of what you buy here. Anyone with me!?

We came for frames and left with many other things!

I couldn't help myself with these adorable toys! We will save them for when M is older but I loved the bright colors! Also we use trays made specifically for freezing baby food to make M's food, but when I saw these ice cube trays they are the perfect size and 1/3 of the price! We also picked up some new spoons to try out.

Back to our initial reason for going... I started my gallery wall a while back and used a variety of these IKEA frames. I wanted to add some new pictures from M's newborn shoot and family photos. We also wanted frames for Oliver's diplomas. I am currently helping him to design/decorate his new work office! We are SO proud of him! He will be starting his first tenure track job in September :)

Summer reading list

My love for a good summer read stems from my childhood. I remember getting that reading list on the last day of school, color coding it (my need for organizing runs deep!), and heading for the library raring to go.

In my teens I lost touch with how much I enjoyed a good book, distracted by the usual demands for a teenage girls attention (glad this phase with M is still a few years away!). However, I have since rekindled my lost passion, and hope to pass that along to M. After dinner Oliver and I make a conscious effort to turn off the TV and phones and read, with a cocktail in hand of course! :)

Here are the books on my list this summer!

Oh and how could I forget this one...

We started reading it to M before bed at Oliver's request. It is one of his favorite childhood books, and he couldn't wait to start sharing it with Maggie! This little family of mine makes my heart so full!

And we're back!

Welcome back to Pass the Bubbly! After a long hiatus I am back to blogging with lots of new content including party planning, style, and my new obsession with essential oils.

My blogger break stemmed mainly from the fact that I felt like I had so little free time but when I really looked around I realized that I had time I just wasn't using it very wisely (aka binge- watching Bravo). I came across this quote and it really resonated with me, "If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse." I am still learning the balance of life with a baby, full-time job, friends, family and blogging but I do think that I am getting better day by day.

There's no doubt that in order to "find a way" some of my priorities have changed but I really feel it is for the better. More to come on that topic in my "6 Months into Motherhood" post!

So, welcome back, thank you for your patience and I hope you are ready to jump back in head first to some fun upcoming posts!

Making your baubles last

I am a total sucker for statement jewelry, anytime I see a new piece I can always justify the purchase. The down side to buying statement pieces is that they rarely last. The tend to tarnish, especially the gold pieces which deterred me from buying for a while. Not to worry I have a solution!

This spray works miracles! You can buy it at Michael's or any craft store, follow the instructions on the can. My suggestion is to do your spraying outside and make sure they dry completely prior to wearing.

The pieces I have sprayed are as good as new- I highly recommend the spray, such an inexpensive solution to "big" problem! :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  We had a fun filled day that included an egg hunt,  baskets, breakfast & dinner thanks to my Parents! I even got to go without tights today, spring has sprung in Boston! Wohoo

We also got to meet my sister's new puppy, Gus. He is one handsome boy who loves to play with his cousins!

We hope you had a fabulous weekend with your family and friends :)

My next project is planning Clovis' first birthday which is next weekend! How did my baby get so old?

DIY Wreath

I have been looking for a new wreath for our front door for a while, I wanted something bright and fun but also personalized (of course!) I pinned this wreath a while ago, as well as a similar one with a monogram instead of the numbers. Ultimately I decided on the numbers because it is less predictable for me :)

I had so much fun picking out the colors and painting the numbers! It was such an easy and fun project for a Sunday afternoon!

Happy Sunday! :)

A girl can dream...

I am in LOVE with these sandals, I thought of at least two dozen events I would wear them to, and how cute they would look with a fun colored pedicure and a good tan! My single girl self really got caught up there for a minute, I had minimal bills, worked overtime and "splurged" more than I should! I have yet to find a suitable alternative to these, not sure I ever really will but for now I will continue to drool over these until I do!

Our Weekend: Celebrating, Shopping & Fun

I was able to get out of work a little early on Friday which was so great! Oliver picked me up and we headed straight home. I promptly headed into the kitchen and whipped up some berry margaritas! We sipped our margs and caught up on our shows from the week. It was a blissfully uneventful night snuggling with my two favorite boys! :)

Saturday I hit the mall for a little spring shopping trip! The mall was insane it was so busy, likely due to all of the great sales going on. I was able to check off several bridal shower gifts, it is so fun when you are able to buy something for the bride that you love and are excited to gift!

I also picked up a few pieces perfect for spring including these Jack Rodgers Jelly Sandals they reminded me so much of the jelly shoe days from my childhood I had to have them! (in two colors)  Use the code SAVE at Lord & Taylor they are having the buy more save more sale!

I was almost out the door, and then I laid eyes on this Ted Baker skirt and I fell in love! I love the pattern, the fullness of the skirt & of course the pockets! Keep an eye out for how I style this in the very near future!
