Fashion Wish List

When I think about fall I get super excited about planning my activities, wardrobe, and prepping for the holidays (remember my 1023043 million posts for my first Thanksgiving?).

This year I am a little sad to be missing out on a lot of the shopping. If there is one thing I miss about pre-pregnancy life it is buying cute clothes from my favorite stores (JCrew, BR, Nordstrom). I am finding it hard to justify splurging on fall trends which I know (more likely-hope) won't fit me next year. So instead here are the things I think YOU should buy so you can look cute, feel great & make this lady super jealous! :)

This beauty comes in 8 colors- I highly recommend checking it out!

I actually think I do need to purchase this for myself! I absolutely love the style!

Faux Fur Find

If you read about my fall "wish list" you remember that I had been on the hunt for a faux fur vest for some time!

Well I finally found it, and at Forever 21 no less! It was the perfect balance of quality and price- I couldn't be happier! A friend of mine knew I had been looking and when she came across several vests at F21 she gave me the heads up- thanks Ash!

I promptly headed over and was so happy to see there was tons of variety in color, length & style! I tried on just about all of them, and fell in love with this one the moment I put it on!

I've been wearing it around the house constantly! I actually planned to wear it to dinner with friends last Saturday night, but Ashley texted to see if I was wearing mine- she has the same one and was wearing her's. I left mine at home that night, it looked beautiful on her as most things do!

I plan on pairing this with black jeans, booties and a sweater for Oliver's birthday dinner coming up soon! :)

What is your favorite fall find? How do you feel about the faux fur trend? I'd love to hear from you!

The Perfect Fall Inspired Bootie

Last fall when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catolog came out I drooled over a pair of L.K. Bennett Plum Colored Suede Booties- "Doris Bootie" they were the perfect heel height- just high enough for a fancy night out but not so much that you couldn't pull it off in a "casual"  heel scenario...maybe only in my book! :)  Regardless, I loved them, they were on sale and when I popped into my local Nordie's & there was only one size 37 left- in my closet they went!

I found myself being so careful with them it was almost not worth having.

So I have decided to wear them with as many outfits this fall as I have convinced myself they would go with when I purchased.

Here is one look I recently wore to a baby shower and loved wearing these beauties!

Here are a few similar styles I love!

Stitch Fix Delivery

I was anxiously awaiting my first Stitch Fix shipment & the day finally came! Just a quick little rundown on the Stitch Fix concept. You fill out a profile of what your style is with sizing, and suggestions of what you're looking for. You can also link up social media, I linked up the blog as well as my Pinterest for extra inspiration. At intervals you choose you receive a personalized box containing five items, you can purchase all five and get a discount or none at all. The cost is only $20/shipment which is subtracted from your total if you choose to keep anything.

It is a great concept, and I made sure to give ample examples of what I was looking for. My stylist Alissa did a fantastic job, I loved her personalized note and that she mentioned she used my blog posts for inspiration :)

Here is what I got in my first fix!

I absolutely love this Polka dot shirt- it will be perfect for a holiday party on a night out- definite keeper! The pants I did love, I am not sure you can tell from the photos but they have a great texture. My two big issues with them are the fit & price. They were more than I would normally spend on a pair of pants, however I would have splurged if the fit were better. The faux fur vest is amazing, I loved it. However I did find out I love recently so I decided to send this one back. As for the cardigan- I totally get where the style idea came from but the execution just was not there. It looked horrible on me- I thought about not even posting the picture, but I wanted to fairly represent what I got so here it is! Lastly, the necklace I loved it in the box and would probably love it on anyone else but I did not like the way it fell on my chest.

Overall I am super happy with the shipment- I think my stylist gave me great options. I have since updated my profile and sizing so next time I will get an even better match! I highly recommend anyone to check out Stitch Fix! I've included the link so you can sign up before the wait list gets too long! :)

The Scarf of the Season- Thanks to Zara

I don't think you can look too far without seeing one of these gorgeous scarves this season. They made several colors, the most common being the tan with green/red- which of course is sold out!

I always make sure to take a peek in every Zara I come across to see if they have it but no luck yet. However I do love the one I have and for $29.90 you can't beat it!

It is so soft, and really versatile! I am always trying out new ways to wear it but I think my favorite is having the "V' in the front and draping it under.

I also love that it is such a statement piece- I paired this with minimal (for me) accessories!

Girls Weekend Plus Husbands- Round Two!

After our big move I vowed to maintain friendships I had made in DC, I made some of the best friends I could have asked for and I feel incredibly grateful for that! In August we had a "girls weekend plus husbands"- it was pretty amazing! The boys hung out, talked sports & exchanged stories about their "kids"- all of which are four legged; it was super cute!

Us three girls took too long to get ready, drank several bottles of Veuve and laughed non-stop! Before the weekend had even ended we planned our Girls Weekend Plus Husbands round two. I have been looking forward to this weekend since before our August weekend ended!

Our friends came up on Friday, we had a ladies lunch & manicure date what a perfect way to unwind and get the weekend started! After that we lounged and had some cocktails at home we had Moscow Mules in my favorite copper mugs! After that we got dolled up and braved the weather for a great dinner at Hillstone right near Faneuil Hall. Dinner was delicious, very chic ambiance and of course the company was amazing!

Saturday was the day we had planned this trip around for our Southern friends- they have never experienced a true New England Fall & we were hoping to grab some photos!

Last year I had taken photos for both couples with their pups which they used for Christmas cards and home decorations, so this year we decided a repeat was needed!

We drank champagne, got blowouts by my favorite girl Marina! The pups had been groomed & husbands fed, dressed and then Mother Nature spoke Her peace...it was not pretty! We are talking horizontal rain, huge gusts of wind leading to- frizzy hair, uncooperative dogs & soaking wet subjects.

However I think we managed to snap at least a few quality shots- all you really need is one right? One of these may be making its way onto our Christmas card! :)

After the photos we poured back into our cars, drove straight back to the house and warmed up with food, bevies & a dance party or two!

We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends in our lives! :)

Old Navy hit the mark this fall!

If you read yesterday's post I was heading out last night to shop for dresses for two weddings I have coming up, one a more relaxed look and the other a more formal event. I was unsuccessful in finding a dress for either which was totally disappointing however I hit Old Navy before heading home and found some amazing pieces!

I think Old Navy totally stepped it up this season with some awesome sweaters, dresses and super cute button downs! I tried on several pieces, one of a which is a really versatile quilted vest which comes in four colors, I gravitated toward the cream with gold zippers, no surprise there! I also loved the hunter green color.

This boyfriend chambray is perfection, slightly heavier material, loose enough to create a relaxed look however not a sack which is a tough balance. I also love plaid button downs under a vest or sweater all of which Old Navy has this season, and for a bargain price!

I also found a few really cute dresses which are perfect for the fall but can also transition easily into the colder months!

My "Fall Musts"

As I have mentioned before there are countless things I love about the Fall, first lets start with the attire. Every year I try to cultivate the perfect fall wardrobe, there is a fine balance as style changes year- to - year as well as the financial implications. In order to get around this I stick to "staple" pieces to add that won't change year to year. For example, the perfect boot. I kid you not when I tell you I was on a search for the "perfect boots" for much of 2010. When I found them; knee high in the perfect chocolate brown shade with a gold zipper up the back, the search was well worth it!

As last fall rolled in a new hunt began- the perfect faux fur vest. Let me tell you- the search continues! I have found a few close contenders; however the color is never "just right" its always a little to long, a little too short, too loose or too tight- not to mention the inevitable too pricey!

The things I think are a staple in any fall wardrobe are the obvious contenders, a knee high flat boot, heeled booties, colored skinny jeans or texture pant (think brown/oxblood/hunter green/reds) oversized sweaters, patterned scarves, and the perfect faux fur vest!

Here are a few things I have my eye on! :)
