Post baby style

After 9+ months (10 really!) of wearing baggy clothes to hide a bump, followed by maternity clothes which accentuated said bump, I was so excited to get back into my regular stores (hello J.Crew, H&M, Nordstrom) and clothing. Then I quickly realized two things: despite being below my pre-pregnancy weight (thank you breastfeeding!) my clothes do not fit the same, and breastfeeding makes wearing "regular" clothes tough.

I did my fair share of research on breastfeeding, getting the "right" bra and nursing pads, but I did not take into account my clothing choices. This was particularly an issue in the early days where a cover wasn't an option because I had no clue what I was doing and I needed to see what was happening. I feel much more confident now in feeding Maggie so I have started exploring clothes I can wear which cover myself instead of stripping down to feed her- I never did that in public don't worry ;)

I love the idea of finding pieces that make breastfeeding easier, but that can also be worn once we are done nursing. So here are some of my favorites so far!

 

I have this tank in several colors, I love the style because you can unbutton the top one and there is a contrasting color underneath so it makes it look more put together.

This sweater is hands down my favorite, I wear it way more than I should. It is SO comfortable, the fabric is amazing and it makes nursing a breeze! I've told all of my Mama friends about it! Until very recently it only came in the cream color and I seriously considered writing to H&M to implore them to make additional colors. It was as if they read my mind, it now comes in blush- and it is on it's way to my house as we speak ;)

 I also have this Patagonia sweater in both colors shown here. It is not a "nursing" top but it works perfectly! Also good news it is part of the big sale Patagonia is having now!

 

Lastly I want to get real here - there have been a few days (more like 5 out of 7) that we haven't changed out of our PJ's. These are not only incredibly comfortable option, but super practical when it comes to nursing. I have two pairs and I love them! Target also has some really reasonable priced options!

Nursery Reveal

After much planning and revising the nursery is complete for our little girl! We absolutely love it and hope you enjoy it as well :)

Fantastic Finds for your Table!

For more details on my Thanksgiving plans see my previous post. I have been on the hunt for several pieces for hosting in our home. I think there are certain elements that are worth splurging on, and some where scoring a good deal is exactly what you need!

We were fortunate enough to receive some amazing shower gifts which really set us up for everyday dining and some special occasion hosting. We did not register for fine china because at the time we knew we'd be moving around for a few years and decided to hold off. I have since found so many patterns I love and would love to have, however I have decided to wait until we purchase a home and have more storage.

Until then I think it is totally acceptable to use our "everyday" plates with some upgrades to jazz it up! Starting with charger plates, I have been on the hunt for a simple gold charger plate. Sounds easy right? Not so much- I ordered several online none of which I loved! Then I went to Target and stumbled upon these babies. They are a subtle gold with some detail to add texture and visual interest to the plate. They came in gold and silver, I bought both but have decided to go with all gold. Don't mind the wrinkled table runner- it was fresh out of the package & will be ironed before the big day :)

I added in this last photo because I couldn't get over how cute my little guy was in the background keeping an eye on the neighborhood! :)

Target also had a series of holiday glassware out, white and red wine glasses, water glasses, and champagne flutes, all for $1.00! I know right? I was ecstatic! We do not have a set of twelve flutes so I thought this was the perfect solution for my signature cocktail- gold sugar rimmed champagne cocktails!
















I was feeling pretty lucky after my Target finds so I stopped into Homegoods where I found this Kate Spade Holiday table runner! Kate Spade is easily one of my favorite designers, so when I came across this runner (they also had it in a tablecloth) I was over the moon! I love the simple color & cute sayings!

I am planning to add some burlap to the table as well, but I don't want to completely cover the table as I love the grey wood style!As for the table scape I have decided to go with a more "nature centric" style- layered wood, lots of greens, burlap & candles! I also ordered a set of monogrammed napkins so as soon as those come in I will make sure to do a review!

This past weekend!

If you got a chance to check out last weekends review on the blog it was jam packed with fun! This weekend was precisely the opposite, I worked four 12 hour overnights in a row- thank the Lord for great coworkers & take out otherwise it would have been unbearable!

I did find some time between shifts to run a few errands- Target returns that turned into Target purchases! I was pretty proud that I got in and out under $100- that for me is a miracle! I bought a new bottle of my favorite Seche Vite top coat, ( check out my favorites page for more of must haves!) as well as some decorations for the house. I have slowly been collecting a few pieces for the table scape for Thanksgiving dinner- keep an eye for a post once the time gets closer. So far I am gold leafing a few pieces and going with a cream & gold theme.

On Sunday we had friends over for lunch who were in town for a wedding. We tried to keep it fairly low key as I was working Sunday night as well. We did a variety of pizzas- some Veggie friendly for the crowd as well as some Fall staple desserts.  It was so great to catch up and reminisce from their wedding which kicked off the season in June! 

Back to work I went Sunday night, full & slightly overtired with a very large latte!
